The first athletes to enter the stadium were members of the Refugee Paralympic Athletes Team Alia Issa, Ibrahim Al Hussein, Anas Al Khalifa (Syria), Shahrad Nasajpour (Iran), Abbas Karimi (Afghanistan) and Parfait Hakizimana (Burundi). /p>
Havva Elmalı and Mücahit Günaydın, who will be at the forefront of the Paralympic National Team, which will compete with 87 athletes in 13 branches, carried the Turkish flag.
Afghanistan’s flag, whose athletes could not travel to Tokyo as soon as the Taliban seized power, was carried by a volunteer.
After the parade, Emperor Naruhito of Japan officially launched the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games, which will conclude on September 5.
Continuing with dance performances, the ceremony was completed with the lighting of the Paralympic Games torch and a fireworks display.
