Iran’s new President, Ibrahim Reisi, presented the cabinet list consisting of 19 names to the parliament. It is noteworthy that Hussein Emir Abdullahiyan, who is distant from negotiations with the United States and the West, is included in the list of President’s cabinet as the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Former Bahraini Ambassador and Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs during the reign of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Hasan Rouhani, Abdullahiyan currently serves as the Special Assistant to the Speaker of the Parliament for International Relations. Abdullahiyan, who is distant from negotiations with the USA and the West and is close to the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, is expected to become the country’s new Foreign Minister if he receives a vote of confidence from the Parliament.

There are two names who served as ministers during the former President Ahmadinejad’s term in the cabinet list submitted by the President to the Parliament. Former Revolutionary Guards Commander Rustam Qassemi, who was Minister of Oil during Ahmadinejad’s term and is on the US sanctions list, and former Quds Force Commander Ahmed Vahidi, who was also Minister of Environment and Urbanization under Ahmadinejad, was nominated as Minister of Interior.
In the list nominated by Brigadier General Mohammed Reza Ashtiani as Minister of Defense, National Gas Company General Manager Javad Ovji was included as Minister of Oil. The parliament is expected to give a vote of confidence to the cabinet list presented by the Chief within a week.
